Group 3 Relays: Winslow Girls Win 6th In A Row, Delsea Wins

The Winslow girls outdueled rival Timber Creek to win their sixth straight title, Delsea's remarkably balanced attack  sparked the Crusaders to the boys championship, and the Mainland girls and Winslow boys burned red hot times at the NJSIAA Group 3 Relays on Sunday at the Bennett Center in Toms River.

In the girls competition, Winslow racked up 52 points to defeat runner-up Timber Creek by 10 points to extend its remarkable winning streak and raise its relay championship total to nine overall.

Winslow's six straight titles in Group 3 is the third longest girls streak in meet history. Only Hopewell Valley, nine straight from 2022-2010, and Union Catholic, who won its ninth straight Non-Public A championship last Wednesday, have won more consecutive titles than Winslow.

And with nine state relay titles overall, Winslow is now tied for the fourth most titles by a girls program. Willingboro has won 11, Hopewell Valley and Columbia have 10 each, and Winslow, Haddonfield, and Union Catholic are next with nine each.

Winslow placed third or better in seven of the nine events with its most impressive performance coming when it won the shuttle hurdles in a NJ No. 2/US No. 2 time of 31.76!!

Sophomore Ma'Syiah Brawner had a big day for Winslow. She ran on the shuttles and cleared a meet best 5-4 to lead Winslow to a third-place finish in the high jump.

Winslow also placed second in the 4x200 (1:43.83), second in the SMR (4:21.31), third in the 4x800 (9:59.19), and second in the 4x400 (4:00.86).

In a meet filed with blazing times, Timber Creek and Mainland let a lot of smoke on the track.

Timber Creek won the 4x200 in a NJ No. 3 1:42.69, and the 4x400 (3:57.96), and Mainland dropped a NJ No. 1 9:40.19 in the 4x800 and a NJ No. 2/ US No. 4 DMR time of 12:26.31!!!

For the Mainland girls, their DMR splits were 3:54.4 for Gillian Lovett, 63.2 for Madison Taylor, 2:27.7 for Emma Preissman, and 5:01.0 for Sofia Day. In the 4x800, Preissman went 2:26.8, Ava McDole ran 2:31.5, Lovett split 2:26.0, and Day anchored in 2:15.0..
