Westfield Sweeps, CBA, Watchung Hills Win State Titles

Westfield swept the J.V. titles, and CBA and the Watchung Hills girls captured the Freshmen team titles at the Freshmen/JV State Championships on Wednesday at Thompson Park in Jamesburg.

The Westfield boys turned in the most impressive performance of the day. The Blue Devils threw down a perfect score of 15 in the JV race and grabbed the top seven places!! Westfield averaged 17:14, had a 1-5 spread of just 17 seconds, and a 1-7 split of 34 seconds! Junior Eamon Mason led the charge for Westfield by winning the race in 17:05. 


In the girls JV race, Westfield went 2-3-7-12-13, had a 1-5 compression of 48 seconds, and averaged 22:48 en route to a 37-53 victory over Ridgewood. Junior Lola Jacqueline of Ridgewood won the race in 21:28.


CBA dominated the freshmen boys race by going 1-2-3-6-15 and averaging 18:21 on the way to a 27-76 victory over North Hunterdon. Wyatt Falkowski led three CBA runners under 18 minutes with a winning time of 17:33. CBA's Sean Galvin was second in 17:40, and Luke Hnatt was third in 17:59.

The Watchung Hills girls put four runners in the top 11 to spark the Warriors to a 42-58 victory over Hillsborough. Ananya Raja, who helped lead Monroe to its first GMC team title last Saturday, ran away with the individual title in 21:35, which was 1:48 ahead of the runner-up.
