Future Stars: Rhianna Scott Soaring For Lawrenceville

It hasn't taken Rhianna Scott very long to soar to the top of the state freshmen rankings as the rookie at Lawrenceville has shown quite a flair in the air in her first high school track and field season.

Scott, the subject of this week's NJ MileSplit "Future Stars'' spotlight series, cemented her place as the No. 1 freshman in the state in both the long jump with a great horizontal double at the Mercer County Championships last month to help spark Lawrenceville to the team title.

Scott won the county long jump title with a leap of 16-5, and she placed third in the triple jump with a 34-3. Both marks are the best in the state this season by a freshman. But Scott isn't just a jumping specialist. She ran cross-country this past fall, and she also runs the 200 and 400 for Lawrenceville.

NJ MileSplit's "Future Stars'' series will feature a different freshman each Wednesday throughout the season.
