On Monday morning the NJSIAA released the news that due to health and safety concerns there will be no spectators at the 2022 NJSIAA State Relays running January 12th through 17th. This is to allow the student-athletes to spread out more and not be crowded into the infield. They made clear this does not mean spectators won't be allowed at future events.
Teams are asked not to arrived at the weekday meets before 3:30pm.
No Spectators At State Relays
"Out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our student-athletes, the winter track & field relay events scheduled for Wednesday, January 12, 2022, through Monday, January 17, 2022, at the Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex in Toms River, will be held with no spectators on site. By not allowing spectators inside the facility, there will be additional space for student-athletes to social distance while they are not competing. These events will bring students from schools from across the state to one location, and considering that all regions of the state are currently in the "red" zone per the NJ DOH weekly CALI report, prohibiting spectators will help protect our student-athletes. NJSIAA has no plan to prohibit or limit spectators at future events during the winter season."
