Christina Allen Clocks US No. 2 Mile To Qualify For Millrose


What a race by Christina Allen!!  

The sophomore star at River Dell threw down a sizzling 4:53.95 to finish first in the mile at Saturday's Hispanic Games at the NY Armory to automatically qualify for the 114th Millrose Games on Jan. 29 at the NY Amory.

Allen's time is the fastest by a NJ girl this season, is currently No. 2 in the nation behind the 4:52.48 run by sophomore Emily Bush of Saratoga Springs in N.Y., and is third all-time in Bergen County indoor history. Allen's previous PR was 4:54.55 for 1,600 at the East Coast Championships last June.

Allen, who won the 3,200m at the Meet of Champions last spring, had splits of 1:14.04, 2:29.15, 3:44.29, and she closed with a final 400 of 69.66, and ran a 32.83 last 200 to finish more than four seconds ahead of Allison DeLisi of William Penn Charter in Pa., second in 4:58.14.
