Malague Smashes Record, Agrawal Wins At Thompson Park Meet

Seniors Mary Malague of Metuchen, who smashed a Middlesex County record, and Anish Agrawal of West Windsor-Plainsboro North clocked the fastest times of the day at Saturday's Thompson Park Class Meet in Jamesburg.

Malague burned a huge PR of 18:31 to capture the girls Senior Division race and take down the Middlesex County course record of 18:38 set in 2013 by Rachel Belmont when she won the GMC title. Malague's time is also No. 19 in course history, and broke Metuchen's school course record of 18:40 that was set in 2014 by Rachel Suss when she won the Central Jersey, Group 1 race.

The boys Senior Division also produced the fastest time of the day as Agrawal ran 16:14 to edge Sahil Sheth of South Brunswick.

In other boys highlights, Blaik Slavinski of Point Pleasant Boro won the boys Junior Race in 16:44, and Max Mahoney ran 17:26 to lead an impressive 1-2-3 by Montgomery in the Sophomore Race. 

On the girls side, Megan Donlevie of Shore Regional won the Junior Division race in 19:40, and Emma Zawatski of Freehold Township ran 19:13 to capture the Sophomore Division title.    

In the team competition, the South Brunswick boys edged Old Bridge on the merge, 107-108. South Brunswick averaged 17:18, and Old Bridge had a 50man average of 17:20. The GMC Championship race between those two teams is one of the can't miss races of the season!!

The No. 3 ranked Middletown South girls averaged 20:06 and easily won the merge, 53-97 over Rumson.
