19-Year-Old Keith Pinto Killed By Lightning Strike

On Monday, Keith Pinto was struck and killed by a lightning strike while lifeguarding in Berkeley Township. He was 19 years old.

Pinto was a four year track athlete at Toms River North HS where he focused on distance events and graduated in 2020. Keith's twin brother Kevin Pinto also competed on the team.

Reported by 6ABC, seven other individuals were also injured but Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy said the injuries were not life-threatening.

A vigil was held on Tuesday and family and friends shared their thoughts with NJ.com as they visited the memorial on the beach.

Our thoughts are with Keith's family and friends as well as the Toms River community as a whole.
