The NJ Track and Field Express is chugging over to see the best there is in Middlesex County today for Day One of the GMC Championships at Frank Jost Field in South Plainfield, which will host the Meet of Champions next month.  

I'm hanging trackside to catch all the action, so I'll fill you in on what's happening.

7:25 p.m. Team Standings-The South Brunswick girls lead East Brunswick, 44.50-36. The South Brunswick boys lead EB, 70-34.

7:22p.m. That's a wrap from Day 1 of the GMC Championships. Great opening day!!! The final day of action starts tomorrow at 4.   

7:20 p.m. East Brunswick takes the boys 4x800 in 8:24.93.

7:09 p.m. South Brunswick win the girls 4x800 in 10:11.306:58  p.m. 4x800 are up now to close out Day 1.  

6:58 p.m.  Junior Joe Oduro of South Plainfield wins the boys TJ with a PR of 43-3!!1 Oduro is getting close to the school record!!!  

6:51 p.m. It's all Medeiros!!!! He wins in 48.36!!! That's NJ#1 for the Future Hoya!!!

6:50 p.m. Boys 400 final is up.  

6:35 p.m. Woodbridge junior Melina Updale wins the girls 400 with a huge PR of 59.87. 

6:28 p.m. How low will Nick Medeiros go!! The Old Bridge stud split 47 last week!!!!! Meet record of 47.27 is within his range. 

6:20 p.m. The 400's are up!!!   

6:15 p.m. Dash finals- It's a P-Way sweep!!!! Kaleia Arrington of P-way gets a rocket starts and runs away with the girls 100 in a PR and NJ#6 12.21 and Kaelen Mitchell win the boys dash in 10.95!! 

6:10 p.m. Ben Godish of Highland Park holds off Vidhur Polam of South Brunswick to win the boys 1600 in 4:19.77. Polam is 2nd in 4:20.71.   

6:05 p.m. Boys 1600 is up

5:55 p.m. Great battle between Metuchen juniors Caroline Schleif and Mary Malague. Schleif wins in 5:09.83. Malague 2nd in 5:10.41.  

5:50 p.m. Girls 1,600 is off. 

5:33 p.m. Dash trials are still on the track.

5:30 p.m. Potts makes 6-6!!! The bar is raised to 6-8. 

5:25- State HJ leader Damarion Potts, a soph. at South Brunswick, won the HJ by clearing 6-4. He's now attempting 6-6.  

5:10 p.m. The next final on the track will be the girls 1600, which will follow the 100 dash trials

5:05 p.m. Next up are the 100 dash trials.  

4:50 p.m. Boys unseeded 1,600 are up nowa

4:40 p.m. Girls unseeded 1,600's are next

4:35 p.m. Junior Chris Serrao of EB wins the boys 400 hurdles with a PR of 57.73. His previous best was 57.76. Serrao will be very busy tomorrow when he runs the HH, 4x100, and 4x400. The meet record in the HH is in Serrao's cross hairs!!!!! Stay Tuned!!!! 

4:32 p.m.  Ali Soherwardy of East Brunswick got Dq'd for false start. 

4:25 p.m. Boys 400 hurdles is next  

4:24 p.m. Asante's winning time is 62.59. That's NJ No. 2!!!!! That's just off her PR of 62.01 from 2019. 

4:23 p.m. Asante wins in around 62 point!!! Waiting on official results

4:18 p.m. North Brunswick senior Adelaide Asante, the 2019 champ, is the favorite. She's run an NJ#8 65.09 this season. 

4:16 p.m. Here we go!! The Girls 400 hurdles is on the track. 

4:10 p.m. The meet will start shortly with the girls 400 hurdles.

4:00 p.m. Great day for lots of PR's!!!! About 72 degrees and sunny!!!
