This week NJSIAA Assistant Director Bill Bruno attended the NFHS Spring Track and Field Committee meeting aimed to present their recommendations for the 2021 outdoor season. He entered the meeting seeking clarification on how jumping events will be handled moving forward and recorded notes on those protocols and more.
NJSIAA's Notes From NFHS Outdoor T&F Recommendations
- High Jump / Pole Vault Tarps: Do not have to be removed nor cleaned. It is recommended that athletes use hand sanitizer after they leave the pits. If poles are shared, poles need to be wiped down.
- No need for open lanes for the straightway events.
- Glove are not necessary for the relays or throwing events. However, if implements are share they must be sanitized.
- Athletes must retrieve their own implements.
