Two defending North 1 Sectional Champions are on this list. Nathan Armstrong, ranked first at Garret Mountain with his 16:21 from Passaic County Championships, won the North 1 Group 1 title. NV Old Tappan's Steven Hatano won the Group 3 Sectional running 16:41 and is sixth among returners.
Last year's Passaic County Championship had some major pace producing the top three returning times. The Championship was won by the now graduated Jesse Campoverde at 16:19 but Armstrong, Jacob Heredia, and Collin Clinton who finished second through fourth that day lead New Jersey into 2020 at Garret Mountain running ahead of all Sectional performances later in the season.
