During Passaic County Championships at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, NY senior high jumper Jamier Wright-Collins cleared 6-09 to move up to US#5 and take over the New Jersey state lead. This is a new overall PR including both indoor and outdoor seasons, following this clearance he also made attempts at 6-11.
Wright-Collins won two Group 4 state titles in the high jump between the 2019 indoor and outdoor seasons, following both performances up with second place finishes at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions. His previous PR was 6-08, which he made three times in a row through February of last year including his State Group and Eastern States Championship titles.
Prior to this 6-09 performance in 2020 the J F Kennedy - Paterson star's season best clearance was 6-04 at the Big North Divisional Championships on January 15th.
New Jersey now has four boys over the 6-06 bar in 2020, with Wright-Collins leading the way at 6-09 he is followed by Foluso Adedeji of Weequahic, who had an opening weekend 6-08 clearance in December. Kameron Smith of Willingboro and Dailan Peck of Ewing have both made it over 6-06 thus far as well.
