Randolph Wins Fourth Straight, Parsippany Boys Win At Morris

Senior Karen Hull led an all-out assault for the Randolph girls, who won an unprecedented fourth straight title, while senior Nana Agyemang won a pair of events to pace the Parsippany boys to their first team trophy at the Morris County Championships on Wednesday at the Ocean Breeze complex in Staten Island, N.Y.

Hull won three events and senior Meredith Finley won twice as Randolph overwhelmed the field, scoring 98.5 points to runner-up Mendham's 55. Randolph is the first girls program to win four straight indoor championships; both Randolph (2009-11) and Roxbury (1998-2000) had won three straight. 

Hull led a 1-2 finish in the 55-meter dash, crossing in 7.41 while senior teammate Alyssa Romagnoli was second (7.42). Hull also won the 55 hurdles in 8.50 while Janyce Wowk was fourth (8.91); and Hull also took gold in the high jump by clearing 5-4 while junior Hannah Keane tied for sixth (4-10). 

Finley paced another 1-2 finish for the Rams by winning the 1,000 in 3:03.49 while junior Chloe Whiting was second in 3:07.16. Finley also won the 1,600 in 5:11.31 and Whiting was third (5:18.85). Finley also placed fifth in the pole vault (8-0). 

Romagnoli was third in the 300 (41.98) and junior Olivia Mancuso was fourth (44.16). Sophomore Maya Wilkins was fourth in the 3,200 (11:46.25) and the 4x400 relay placed third (4:14.39). 

In the boys showcase, Delbarton scored in 8 of 11 events to Parsippany's five, but Parsippany secured three golds to boost its point total and edge Delbarton 48-47. 

Parsippany had never finished higher than fourth (2000) at the county indoor championships, while Delbarton was bidding for its third indoor title in six years, having won in 2015 and 2018. 

Parsippany's Agyemang won the 55 dash in 6.63 in a duel with Delbarton's Jonathan Nguyen (6.67); Agyemang was second in the trials to Nguyen, 6.69 to 6.72. Agyemang also led a 1-2 finish inn the 300, winning in 35.80 while senior Anthony Colasuonno was second in 35.85. Colasuonno also placed fifth in the 55 hurdles (7.99).

Junior Dominic Romero boosted Parsippany with a gold in the 1,000 (2:36.89) while the 4x400 relay team finished fifth (3:33.72).

For Delbarton, Nguyen captured his team's only gold, in the 55 hurdles (7.65). Senior Stephen Daly was second in the 3,200 (9:31.62) and fifth in the 1,600 (4:24.70). Senior Harrison Vives was fourth in the 1,600 (4:24.07) and fifth in the 1,000 (2:38.55). Senior Hayden Beumee was sixth in the hurdles (7.92).

In the field events, sophomore Jeffrey Cianfrocca was second in the high jump (6-2), junior Gabriel Benz was fourth in the pole vault (11-6), and junior Elijah Hills was sixth in the shot put (48-8).
