Johnson and Baeyens to UPenn, NJ Commitments So Far

New Jersey's cross country / track and field college commitments have started to roll in and a large wave of them are still on the horizon.

University of Pennsylvania Adds Two More New Jersey Stars

Luke Johnson of the NJ#2 ranked West Windsor Plainsboro North squad committed to UPenn earlier this month. Johnson switched over from football to cross country for his senior year and has taken to the course very well notching two wins and five top three finishes so far.

He posted a 15:32 at Holmdel in his first attempt, just a few seconds off the Cherokee Challenge course record having recorded a 9:33.26 in his first XC race, and he leads a top ranked squad in the state.

He had a lot of success on the track coming into this adventure, he's reached the Meet of Champions multiple years and finished 8th at the 2018 outdoor MOCs in the 1600m. He has a PR of 4:15.46 over 1600m, 1:55.24 in the 800m, and 9:25.71 in the 3200m.

Before the University of Pennsylvania decision Johnson was also looking at Brown University, Yale, and UNC.

Joining Johnson at UPenn is Watchung Hills senior Laura Baeyens. She has two sectional titles on the track, a Skyland Conference win, and three top ten finishes at MOCs between indoor and outdoor track.

On top of that she has had a great cross country season thus far collecting her first two XC wins of her career at the Stewart Invitational and Bernie Magee Class Meet.
