Throws Preview
In the girls discus Abby Nonnenberg of Wall has been dominant all season with multiple throws over 137 and leading us out of Groups at 137-09. Cydney Thomas is the second seed with a 135-01 on the season, she is also the top returner from last year's Meet of Champions having placed third as a sophomore, Nonnenberg was fifth.
The javelin has developed into one of the more interesting battles of the weekend. Our two main contenders both rank in the US top 15 this season. Brielle Smith threw 168-06 early on in April to break her own state record. The senior from Oakcrest is the defending champ for the Meet of Champions as well as New Balance Nationals Outdoor. The rising star set to challenge her for this Meet of Champions title is Bergen County Tech sophomore Alianna Eucker who's thrown 150-05 this spring, she's the third ranked sophomore in the country.
Cydney Thomas, who won the indoor Meet of Champions, is our leading shot put thrower heading into outdoor MOCs. She's the NJ#1 shot putter with a season best of 43-11, and hit 42-08 last week at Groups. Unfortunately we won't get to see her take on NJ#2 ranked Bryanna Wilson who pulled out of Groups last weekend.
