Interview: Abby Loveys on Her State Record 3200m Run

Watch the NJSIAA Meet of Champions LIVE on MileSplit

We caught up with the Princeton bound Abby Loveys to discuss more about her state record run in the 3200m at the Morris County Championships. Her time of 10:10.24 broke the 10:12.8 standard held by Michelle Rowen of Washington Township since 1983. Loveys was also faster than the converted two mile state record by Dana Giordano of Bernards which now sits second all-time at 10:12.73c.

Topics of Discussion

  • The reaction to being a state record holder.
  • When this actually became a goal of hers, or looked like a possibility.
  • The rundown of the race, splits, and so on.
  • What does this do for her 1600m expectations, focusing on that instead of the 3200m going forward.
  • Her senior year as a whole, looking back on her career a bit.
  • Her goals for New Balance Nationals Outdoor, the hard double back from Brooks PR the night before.
  • Touching on her decision to go to Princeton University.
