Jason Santa Cruz and Katherine Muccio of Ridgewood delivered two of the greatest performances in Bergen County history on Day One of the Gene Littler Bergen County Group Championships on Friday at Old Tappan High School.

According to a report by Paul Schwartz of the Bergen Record, the Monmouth-bound Santa Cruz exploded with a huge PR and NJ#1 206-5 to win the javelin in the A Division. That places the 6-2, 200-pound Santa Cruz No. 5 in Bergen Coumnty history, No. 16 in state history, and No. 6 in the country this season.

The best race of the day came in the girls 400 hurdles in the A Division when future college roomates at UPenn, Muccio and Grace O'Shea of Ramapo, hooked up in a sizzling battle.

Muccio finished first in NJ #1 1:01.13, No. 3 all-time in Bergen County in No. 6 in the US this season. O'Shea was second in a NJ#2 1:01:34, No. 5 in Bergen County history and No 8 in the nation this season.

Muccio is now just over a second off the Bergen County record of 1:00.08 set Alex Cimino of Westwood in 2013.
