A big time showdown took place between All-American hurdlers Sincere Rhea of St. Augustine Prep and Andre Turay of Bullis School (MD) at the Bullis Bulldog Invitational on Saturday in Potomac, MD.
Rhea, New Jersey State Champ and 2019 New Balance Nationals Indoor 55m hurdles winner, finished second in the 110 meter hurdles race with a time of 13.81. Andre Turay getting the victory by .01 with his 13.80 after the two went step for step down the straightaway.
Both running with a wind reading of just .01 put down US#2 and US#3 performances this season on the wind legal US rankings and still rank US#4 and #5 when considering the all conditions list.
What a race!
West Side's Jakai Coker, the top NJ returner from last spring in the 400m hurdles, won the event with a time of 55.28, his teammate Jarrett Gentles in second with a 56.20 (Watch Here). In a tough double Jarrett Gentles also finished second in the 300m hurdles at 39.59 (Watch Here). West Side also had a good showing in the shot put thanks to Prince Okituama who finished seventh with a 42-01.5.
West Side's James Bell launched for a mark of 22-07 finishing second in the long jump, that is NJ#2.
And on the girls side Kaira Brown of Kent Place hit a season best 55.38 for fourth in the 400m dash. She was also 13th overall in the 200m running 26.06 NJ#3.
Her Kent Place teammate Miranda Lorsbach, a freshman, ran a strong double finishing second place in the 1600m with a PR time of 5:20.04 and winning the 3200m run at 11:31.46 taking over the state lead!
Benedictine Academy's Selena Munroe finished sixth in the 100m hurdles final with a 15.23.
