Shelby Bigsby Now the Fourth New Jersey Girl Ever Over 50 Feet

Shelby Bigsby has joined an elite club of shot put throwers. The Montclair senior threw 50-02 to win Eastern States Championships on Tuesday night, her first mark over the 50 foot barrier with a previous best of 48.7.25 from the Varsity Classic in early February. This also improves her clutch on the US#1 ranking this season.

That makes her just the fourth girl ever over 50 feet in New Jersey history. Joining the likes of national record holder Alyssa Wilson, Nickolette Dunbar, and Nicole Sims.

Her marks on Tuesday night included a 46-08, 48-01, and then finally the huge 50-02. Undefeated in 2018, she has won 12 straight meets this season and leads the field into the NJSIAA Meet of Champions this coming weekend.
