Ray Sellaro and Chris Romero to UPenn, Join Growing List of Jersey Talent

North Hunterdon's Ray Sellaro and VoorheesChris Romero have both announced that they will be attending the University of Pennsylvania next fall. The interview took place after their great 1-2 performances at the Skyland Conference Championships on Thursday and was asked to officially be released Saturday.

Both cited Coach Steve Dolan as a part of their decision making, noting his New Jersey focused recruiting as well as the training plan that will help them work their way to the next level. UPenn already has six New Jersey recruits heading their way from the class of 2018 including Will Hare of Princeton, Monica and Isabel Hebner of Northern Highlands, and Caroline O'Sullivan of Northern Valley Old Tappan.

Isabel Hebner announced on twitter Friday that she'll be joining her sister at UPenn. She finished top ten in last spring's 3200m at the Meet of Champions and, along with her twin sister, has had a fantastic senior cross season so far.

Ray Sellaro has had a great senior campaign so far at North Hunterdon, he's won five 5K invitational or championship races and placed 16th at Manhattan in the Eastern States race running 12:54 over the 4K course. He has multiple sectional titles under him and has qualified for the Meet of Champions in all three distance running seasons. He has personal records of 1:58.56 in the 800m, 4:15.57 in the 1600m, 9:27.40 in the 3200m, and has a 16:16 Holmdel best. His most recent 15:39 win at the Skyland Conference meet ranks him second all-time at Natirar, you can watch that race here.

Chris Romero has had a great first half of his 2017 season as well amassing five wins. He led this year's Shore Coaches Invitational merge with his 15:56 course best and has made it to the cross country Meet of Champions the past three seasons. Last spring on the track Romero placed second at Group 2 Championships in the 1600m running his career best time of 4:09.74 and followed that up with a seventh place finish at the Meet of Champions. His wicked 3200m PR of 9:04.59 came last spring as well, at the Holmdel Twilight Series.

With the Garden State talent they already have there and these recent commitments UPenn appears to be putting together a New Jersey all-star team!
