GIRLS INDIVIDUAL WINNERS

People's Choice

Grace Campbell of Pope John XXIII won the people's choice vote in a back and forth poll with Victoria Vanrielle of Governor Livingston. The Pop John senior finished 11th overall with at time of 20:54 at the Warwick Valley Purple Wave Mania meet in NY during Week 1. Not only leading all individual New Jersey performances but helping her team finish third in the overall merge and NJ#1 at the meet. Campbell finished with 1,673 votes and amassed 43%.

Editors Pick

My vote went to Abby Loveys of Randolph for her wicked time at the Randolph Invitational. She watched Alexa Westley of Warren Hills run eighth all-time at Freedom Park the race before with an 18:18 and followed that up with her own major time of 18:14 for fourth all-time at North Jersey course.

Girls Team Performance

Girls Team WINNERS

People's Choice

Northern Highlands earned the votes victory with room to spare, much like their performance at the Season Opener in Week 1 where they scored 62 points and averaged 20:15 in the merge to lead the meet. They received 42% of the 1,078 votes cast for this particular poll.

Editor's Pick

I really like the People's Choice pick here, but I was also impressed by Red Bank Catholic's performance at the Randolph Invitational, they scored 78 in the merge averaged 19:47 and split 1:05. In their particular race they brought home their top six within the top seven finishers of the race.

Boys Individual Performance

Boys INDIVIDUAL WINNERS

People's Choice

Jeremy Bronstein of Dwight Englewood School gained 55% of the nearly 1,000 votes cast for this poll. He led the Season Opener with a time of 16:09 during week 1, almost 20 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. A great time and start to this junior's season looking forward to seeing what he does from here.

Editor's Pick

I saw borth Ray Sellaro and Chris Romero's performances in person making this decision even harder but my week 1 pick goes to Rey Sellaro of North Hunterdon. He battled with St. Benedict's Prep's Ronald Kigen to the line for his 15:46 win at the Randolph Invitational.  Not only was it an impressive effort of a win but he now ranked fifth all-time at Freedom Park.

Boys Team Performance

BOYS TEAM WINNERS

People's Choice

Hackensack earned 52% of the 1,000+ votes to win the People's Choice for Team of the Week. They led the Season Opener merge with 114 pts and an average of 17:25. A big part of their victory coming from a mere 32 second split between their scoring five!

Editor's Pick

My pick is going to West Windsor Plainsboro South for their combined performance at the Cherokee Challenge. In the overall merge they were third but leading New Jersey behind two talented out of state schools Salesianum (DE) and Downingtown West (PA). They averaged 10:12 over the two mile course and split 27.72 between their top five finishers.
