Alana Sasdelli of Buena and Samantha Green from Park Ridge - Emerson lead the way on both the overall and Holmdel Park returning lists. Alana Sasdelli was second in last year's Group 1 Championship as a freshman running 20:29, the now graduated Annika Merkh won that title. While Samantha Green didn't run in the NJSIAA state championships she did hit a 20:24 during the Shore Coaches Invitational and is the second fastest Group 1 returner at Holmdel because of it.
Kinnelon is a team favorite in the preseason statistical race. During the 2016 Group 1 Championship Kinnelon finished second to Metuchen despite having two girls break the top five. They enter this season returning SIX of their top seven from that race led by junior Angelina Tarabokija who has a Holmdel PR of 20:08. The six girls they return all rank in the top 15 Group 1 returners at Holmdel Park.
