Jared Cooper and Mountain Lakes invade Group 1 after competing in Group 2 last season. Only a junior, Cooper has the fastest returning overall time and more importantly the #1 Holmdel Park time in this classification with his 16:31 at Groups. The likes of Cameron Gec, Drew Maher, and Jake Beacher will all have something to say about that individual title.
Team wise the preseason statistical power struggle leads to Metuchen and Mountain Lakes. Metuchen is ahead in returning lists both for overall courses and Holmdel Park. Led by Jake Beacher's 16:46 their average on the state course comes to 17:28 and boast a 1:01 split one through five. The Metuchen boys enter the fall as the defending Group 1 team champions.
