Rey Rivera crossed the line a full two seconds ahead of the field at 1:52.18 US#4 on Saturday to win his second straight 800 meter Meet of Champions title. He now has four of those championships between indoor and outdoors.
Rivera entered the race with the meet record in mind, a 1:51.72 by Issac Clark of Pleasantville in 2013, and despite falling just short of that mark he is now ranked fourth all-time at the John Bennett track. With this solid performance, an indoor PR, Rivera has some great momentum coming off this performance heading into Easterns and Nationals these upcoming weeks.
Also in this race, Haig Rickerby of McNair Academic capped off his own great state season, now NJ#2 this season with a 1:54.45.
