A big time win for the junior Malual Mu from Trenton Central, one that only came to fruition thanks to a ferocious last lap kick to overcome Colin Trigani of CBA who was leading at the time. Mu crossed the line with a 4:19.88, Billy Hill of Franklin made a move for second at 4:20.37 and CBA's Colin Trigani and Noah Yuro finished third and fourth at 4:20.53 and 4:20.73.
Mu came into the Meet of Champions as the first overall seed thanks to his NJ#1 time of 4:16.03 at the Group 4 Championships last weekend, watch that race here. However this was a very strong field to try and plan for and Mu found out early that he'd have to adjust to the flow of the race, leading to that eventual exciting come from behind finish.
This wasn't his first rodeo either, as a sophomore in 2016 he finished 10th at the Meet of Champions running 4:21.53, and now will return in 2018 to defend his title.
At nationals he plans on helping his team in the sprint medley relay, then to come back the next day and compete in the championship mile event.
