A tale of triples and doubles, McNair Academic won their first state team title in school history on Friday with 47 points out lasting an also impressive Willingboro squad in second at 44.
A small team with big time performers such as Haig Rickerby who tripled, winning the 400 and 800 meter with times of 50.24 and 1:58.62 then anchoring the 4x400 meter relay which earned enough points in third at 3:34.56 to secure their team victory.
Another big event for the team was the 1600 meter run where Younass Barkouch and Fahd Nasser secured 14 points through second and third running 4:26.51 and 4:28.77, those two doubled back in the 3200 meter to earn fifth and sixth as well. Willingboro, who placed second as a team, won three events at this meet. George Milton ran 6.61 in the 55 meter dash, Jahaad Beckford won the 55 meter hurdles with a 7.83 after posting 7.80 in prelims, and their 4x400 meter team won gold with a time of 3:32.68.
