SENIOR OF THE YEAR

PATTY HANNON- PARAMUS

The senior from Paramus really heated up during the championship part of the season.  Hannon had a seasonal best time of 19:16 at Darlington which placed her 4th in the “A” race at the Bergen County Group Championships. A week later she finished 6th at the Bergen Meet of Champions in 19:25 and then the following week finished 4th in 19:37 at Garret Mountain in the State Sectional North 1 Group 3 race.  The 19:37 was the second fastest time among all Bergen County girls this season and qualified her individually for the New Jersey State Group Championships.  At the State Group meet, Hannon finished 17th in 19:39 in the Group 3 race and advanced to the State Meet of Champions for the third consecutive year. At SMOC, Hannon ran the second fastest time for a Bergen athlete finishing in 19:33 to place 30th.

ERIN THOMPSON

IMMACULATE HEART ACADEMY

By the times Erin Thompson posted this past year it would be hard to imagine that this was her first ever cross country season, but that’s exactly what it was and Thompson performed like a seasoned veteran the entire year.  The super frosh had a personal best of 19:41 at Holmdel which placed her 35th at the State Meet of Champions and 6th among all freshmen in the race.  At the Bergen Meet of Champions at Darlington Thompson posted a 5th place finish in 19:22 to help IHA claim the BMOC team title. A week earlier in the Bergen Group Championships “A” race, Thompson again was 5th, this time crossing the finish line in 19:27.  She also recorded a 20:26 at Garret Mountain and ran 15:52.5 on the classic 2.5 mile course at the Manhattan Invitational Eastern States race. Thompson’s best times at Garret (20:26) and Darlington (19:22) were the fastest among Bergen County freshman this year.
