Local Scene - Bergen County

1) IHA- Sat out varsity squad this past week at New Jersey Catholic Conference meet. IHA’s next 7 girls ran and finished 12th with 6 girls just 16 seconds apart.   The Varsity will run at the Parochial A State Championships at Holmdel Park this coming Saturday were they will meet up with Monsignor Donovan, Red Bank Catholic, Pope John and Holy Angels amongst other teams. 
2) RIDGEWOOD- 4th place finish at North 1 Group 4 sectionals, which secured a trip to Holmdel for the Group 4 State Championships next Saturday at Holmdel. Ridgewood had an excellent 40 second 5-girl spread on the Garret Mountain course, with their top 4 girls all finishing in succession. The team was led by Sarah Daly who took 12th in 20:40. She was followed by Charlotte Margel, who placed 13th in a time of 20:52, Christian Lewis finished in 14th running 20:53 and Jessica Vasquez placed 15th in 20:56. Christy Bertelsen was Ridgewood’s 5th girl, placing 27th in 21:20.  Sam Laddin was only 4 seconds behind Bertelsen, running 21:24.  Sophomore Courtney Schofield took 43rd, her time was 22:10. 
3) HOLY ANGELS- Holy Angel’s sat out their varsity at the New Jersey Catholic Conference Sectionals.  They will be in action this Saturday at the State Group meet at Holmdel where they will be in the Parochial A race. 
 4) NORTHERN HIGHLANDS- The Highlanders finished third behind powerhouse Roxbury and Mount Olive in the North 1 Group 3 race at the NJSIAA State Sectional race at Garret Mountain on Saturday, November 3rd.  Katie Nestor and Charlotte Tregelles were 12th and 13th, finishing in times of 20:34 and 20:37.  Dylan Pain posted a 21:38 good for 29th, Jenna Stoller ran 21:44 for 33rd and Allie Silverman was 53rd in a time of 22:25.  Northern Highlands advanced to the State Group Meet at Holmdel Park with their 3rd place finish.
5) PARAMUS- Paramus jumps back into the rankings with a 7th place finish in the North 1 Group 3 NJSIAA Sectionals at Garret Mountain. In the process they defeated previous #5 Old Tappan and #7 Ramapo.  Senior Patty Hannon ran an eye opening 19:37 to place 4th and qualified individually to the State Group Meet at Holmdel on Saturday, November 10th.  Hannon’s 19:37 is the second fastest time at Garret Mountain for a Bergen girl this season. Sophomore Gabrielle Reuveni posted a 21:53 for 38th place.  Christina Hwang was 47th in 22:05, Christina Lee and Kelly Loughlin finished back to back in 50th and 51st with times of 22:12 and 22:19.    
6) RAMSEY- 2nd place at North 1 Group 2 NJSIAA Sectionals at Garret Mountain. Ramsey had 3 girls in the top 15 and a 21:46.0 team average. Sophomore Alexandra Clinton took 5th place in 20:27 and Diane Bain placed 12th in 21:13. Katherine Wilson posted a 21:29 to finish 15th Allison Fox recorded a 22:45.  Rebecca Schwartz placed a 22:56 for 38th place.  Ramsey’s next meet will be the State Group Champs at Holmdel.  They will compete in the group 2 race.
                       
7) TENAFLY- Narrow 2 point loss to #6 Ramsey places Tenafly in the #7 spot this week.  Tenafly placed third to advance to the State Group Meet.  Marissa Ayvaliotis led the charge as she finished 6th in 20:48.  Ally Legen Siegal ran 21:02 to place 9th.  Nicole Kugler finished in 21:56, Monica Landy ran 22:15 and Toni Gatchalian placed 45th in 23:32.
8) RAMAPO- 8th place finish in Group 3 race at the North 1 Group 3 NJSIAA sectionals.  Erin Mckenna placed 6th overall in a time of 20:05.  Placing 30th was Caitlin Downey who ran 21:29, Megan Downey was 48th in 22:09, Jackie Keller was 56th in 22:39 and Jessica Thompson was 62nd in 22:50.  Mckenna will run at the State Group Champs in Group 3.

 
9) WALDWICK- Brittany Debord’s 4th place led the way to Waldwick’s 2nd place finish in the North 1 Group 1 NJSIAA sectional meet at Garret. Debord posted a 20:45.  Junior Kelsey Dunn broke 22 minutes with a 21:52 placing her 14th. Jenna Hascup also broke the 22 minute barrier finishing the 5000 meter course in 21:59 for 17th place.  Amanda Duggan and Paula Gonzales were 21st and 23rd respectively with times of 22:23 and 22:29.  With their 2nd place finish, Waldwick advances to the State Group Championships at Holmdel this Saturday.
10) OLD TAPPAN- 9th place at NJSIAA North 1 Group 3 race.  Morgan Procida ran 21:29 to finish 25th.  Allison Dippolito was at 21:50 to take 36th, Emily Reichbach finished 52nd in 22:20 and Caitlin Fullam and Catherine Harrington were 57th and 58th in 22:43 and 22:44.
