Local Scene - Bergen County

1) IHA- IHA destroys the field at the Bergen Meet of Champions, scoring just 22 points and winning by 73 over runner up Ridgewood. For the second consecutive week the Blue Eagles were record setters, as they broke their week long Darlington 5-girl team average record of 19:19 with a 19:15.4 effort this time around.  They had 5 runners in the top 8 and 6 in the top 12, with all 6 breaking 20 minutes. Junior Sarah Pagano continued her stellar season, easily claiming her first BMOC individual title with a time of 18:25. Fellow junior Mary Kaye Duff improved on last years 5th place finish to place 3rd in 19:05. Freshman Erin Thompson was 5th in a personal best 19:22.  Sophomore Julie Sinkovitz also ran a personal best, finishing in 19:40 to place 7th and Sarah Mellea did the same to place 8th in 19:45.  Maggie Senor was 12th for IHA, running a PR of 19:53, and Sam Antonietti ran 21:50.  The Blue Eagles will next compete at The New Jersey Catholic Conference XC Champs at Warinanco Park on Saturday, November 3rd.   

2) RIDGEWOOD- Ridgewood over the years has always performed at championship caliber meets and this year was no different as the Maroons defeated previous #2 Holy Angels, 95-99 to finish 2nd at the Bergen Meet Of Champions. Ridgewood had a nice 44 second 5 girl spread which was led by Charlotte Margel.  She was the Maroon’s top finisher, running 19:56 to place 11th. Sarah Dally posted a 20:11 to claim 19th and Jessica Vasquez and Christina Lewis finished just 2 seconds apart as they finished 26th and 27th with times of 20:30 and 20:32.  Christina Bertelsen ran 20:40 to place 30th.  Total team average was 20:21.8. Up next for Ridgewood will be the State Sectionals at Garret Mountain on Saturday, November 3rd.  

3) HOLY ANGELS- Holy Angels finished 3rd at the Bergen Meet of Champs this past Saturday.  Freshman Jen Molke ran 19:48 to finish 10th, Suzana Markolovic placed 18th in 20:10 and Kat Baselice was 24th in 20:23. Stephanie Gibney was 36th in 20:48 and Nicole Shiavone was 38th in 20:50. Total team average was 20:23.8.  The next race for Holy Angels will be the New Jersey Catholic Conference XC Champs on Saturday, November 3rd at Warinanco Park. 

 4) NORTHERN HIGHLANDS- 4th place at Bergen Meet of Champs.  The Highlanders top individual on this day was once again Katie Nestor; she finished in 9th place with a time of 19:46. Charlotte Tregelles was only 6 seconds away from Nestor as she recorded a time of 19:52 to place 11th.  Dylan Palin(20:47), Allie Silverman (21:20) and Katie Dibella (21:37) were runners 3-5 for Northern Highlands. 

5) OLD TAPPAN- 5th place finish at Bergen Meet of Champs with 153 points.  Chelsea Corcoran was the top runner for Old Tappan, covering the 3.1 Darlington course in 20:19 for 22nd place.  Allison Dippolito and Morgan Procida were both under 21 minutes as they finished with times of 20:46 and 20:48 for 32nd and 37th. Emily Reichbach was 48th in 21:12 and Caitlin Fullam placed 66th in 22:00.  Team average was 21:01. 

6) RAMSEY- 6th place with 157 point at Bergen Meet of Champs. Sophomore Alexandra Clinton has proven all season long that she is one the top runners in Bergen, she proved it again by taking 4th in 19:19. Diane Baine was 20th in a time of 20:11.  Katherine Wilson took 55th in 21:36, Adrianna Lanuto was under the 22 minutes running 21:57 and Jacqueline Rosato was 71st in 22:21.   

7) GARFIELD- 7th place at BMOC with 180 points. Garfield was led by junior Sylwia Dziedzic, she finished 14th in 19:57.  Paulina Drelich ran 21:57 to place 44th, Dominika Fryc finished in 51st in 21:21 and Dybka Aneta was 54th with a time of 21:32.  Freshman Monica Dziedzic was Garfield’s #5, placing 79th in 22:50.  Team average was 21:21.4.    

8) RAMAPO- 8th place finish at BMOC with 181 points.  Junior Erin Mckenna repeated her 2nd place finish at the Bergen Group “A” race a week ago, this time finishing in 19:04.  Caitlin Downey was 43rd just missing going under 21 minutes with a 21:02. Meghan Downey was 63rd in 21:45 and Jackie Keller and Jessica Thompson finished back to back in 72nd and 73rd with times of 22:28 and 22:37.  Team average was 21:23.2.

9) TENAFLY- 9th at Bergen Meet of Champs with 210 points.  Maris Ayvaliotis ran 19:58 to place 15th, Ally Ledge Siegel was 28th in 20:34, Nicole Kugler placed 62nd in 21:43 and Toni Gatchalian was 85th in 23:22.  Lizzie Aronson took 89th in 24:12 and Sarah Roden was 90th finishing in 24:20.  

10) WALDWICK- 10th at BMOC with 243 points.  Brittany Debord ran 20:27 for 25th; Jenna Hascup finished in 21:09 for 47th, Kelsey Dunn took 74th with a time of 22:37, Stephanie Montana took 86th running 23:42 and Katie Rehm was 96th in 25:53.
