THE SECOND SEASON

In the Iron Division, Steve Berstler of West Morris ran 16:41 for the win over  Jacob Schneider, a junior from Livingston (16:43) and Randolph freshman Collin Frost (17:09).  On the team side, Randolph with 50 points took the win with Morristown in second (63 points) and Morris Knolls in 3rd , with 104 pts. 

Summit sophomore Kearsley Olcott defended her title in the Girls Hills Division with a time of 19:53.  Mendham runners took the next two places with Laura Vigilante (19:32) and Janice O’Brien (19:40) following Olcott over the line.  Chatham with sophomores Kat Grimes (19:44 / 5th) and Jessie Villars (20:13) took the team title with 52 points to edge Morris Hills (57 pts.) with Summit (69 pts.) finishing 3rd. 

Lauren Penny (Sr. / Roxbury) continued her steller season with the win in the Iron Div. Penny took the win in 18:03 over teammate and fellow senior Ashley Cromartie (18:30). Freshman standout Joelle Amaral (Randolph) took 3rd in 18:49. The 1-2 finish by the Roxbury duo led the Morris County squad to the team title with 41 points. Livingston, took silver with 68 points with the bronze going to Morristown with 86 points.

BCSL Championships (National / Olympic Divisions.)  West Hudson Park

In the Boys National Div. Secaucus put all of its scorers in the top 10 to take the title with 25 points.  Senior Ryan Shea led the way with the win in 18:17. He was followed by a pair of Becton runners,  soph. Alex Perez (18:24) and sr. Joe Coats (18:43).  With the 2-3 finish, Becton took second with 50 points. Third went to Ridgefield Memorial which scored 74 points.  

The Rochford brothers took Gold and Silver in the Olympic Div., but Bogota could only muster aclose second place finish in the battle for the team title. With Brian (16:52) edging Pat (16:56), the next finisher was Leonia jr. Victor Lopez (17:10).  Park Ridge, with  a better 5th man finish took a 1 point win with 45 points. 

Becton, with a 1-2 finish tok the National Div. Girls title over Ridgefield Memorial.  Juniors Evelina Marut (22:42) and Natalia Mazur (23:03) led the winners (27 pts.) with Erika Blumenfield of Lyndhurst / No. Arlington taking third in 24:35.  Secaucus took 3rd .

 Betsey Eickelberg (20:58) led Leonia to the team title (69 pts). She was followed across the line by Siobhan  O’Brien  (21:23) of  2nd place Bogota  (72 pts.) and Heather Lehmann of Park Ridge. Dwight Morrow-Englewood took 3rd with 75 points.
