First off, congratulations to Franklin and South Brunswick who tied in the team scoring to share the Group IV State Relay title! A hard fought meet between both teams. Below we will highlight event winners, the top six finishers, as well as the title race between the two team winners. I will also note NJ top five performances as well as US top ten.
Coaches if you're team won an event in this article and you would like splits and the names of the athletes to be included please send them into rkellert@milesplit.com. I would post the names listed on the results but they aren't always the actual relay team that ran.
Due to unforeseen circumstances at the last minute I wasn't able to attend this meet and give live updates, however I will be attending the rest of the state relay meets this weekend so keep an eye out for those live updates articles!

Right off the bat in the Distance Medley the meet saw US#1 ranked relay team of West Windsor Plainsboro South who just last weekend ran 12:23.03 to lead the country at the Edwin Lavino Relays!
This was a hot race with four top five New Jersey times this season and THREE top ten US times!!
The WWPSouth girls ripped a 12:16.50 to extend their lead on the county in the event!

This is where Franklin Twp and South Brunswick started this meet long grudge match. Out of the "slowest" seeded heat THE FIRST HEAT Franklin Twp clocks in at a quick 32.46. Nine heats later no one even came close to that NJ#4 time. South Brunswick had to settle for a fast second with a NJ#5 32.72.

Running a wicked fast 4:08.21 Lenape breaks the Group IV meet record as well as the OVERALL All-Group Relays record (that is all the group records combined) set by Columbia when they ran 4:08.84 in 2014!! That performance makes them the state leader as well as US#3!!
Lenape Regional's record breaking team and splits: Carly Pettipaw 59.5, Jasmine Staten 25.8, Sam Maynes 26.7, Megan Quimby 2:15.5 / 4:08.21 (Thanks Coach Richardson!)
Hunterdon Central finished behind them with 4:10.47, only less than a second off their already US#4 ranked time of 4:10.32 which they ran in late December at the Marine Corps Classic. Egg Harbor Twp gets on the top ten US board with a US#9 time of 4:14.84!

An update on the team race at this point -- by the time of the 4x400m event Franklin had received 18 points from the field events to hold the lead! South Brunswick's field gained them 10 points to set the score as 36-28. If South Brunswick wanted to win the title they would need to win the race and have Franklin not score.
What happened - Lenape Regional hits a NJ#1 US#17 time of 4:01.68 to win the 4x400m with room to spare! South Brunswick takes second to tie Franklin for the team lead at 36! They run NJ#3 with a time of 4:04.56.

Franklin Twp's Selena Thorne tied for first individually with a 5-04 clearance and Me'Saj Closs was tied for 11th best with a height of 4-10 to lead their relay to a first place finish at 10-2. A big part of Franklin's quest for the State Relay title.

Hunterdon Central dominates the Pole Vault relay with senior Sabrina Anderson vaulting 11-06 for first individually and Madison Heft, also a senior, clearing 11-00 for second overall. That placed them at 22-06!
