Jack O'Leary Lid-Lifter Opens Season, Dunbar Brings US#2 Mark!

(Note: For the race videos, due to a scheduling conflict with work I wasn't able to start recording until midway through the girls 600m heats. Every race after that was recorded.)

Nickolette Dunbar of Whippany Park decided to give the indoor season a try after passing for the sport of basketball her first two years of high school. So far I'd have to say that looks like a GREAT DECISION! She threw a personal best US#2 mark of 45-8 in the shot put to win the meet with a Morris County record and demolished the meet record by over 4 feet. That throw was the best the Garden State has seen indoor in two years. The NJ 2014 top mark of 43-8 and the 2013 mark of 44-3.5 were out matched by the first winning mark of the 2015 season!  

On the track a showdown in the boys 600m between Greg Stickle of Randolph and Christian Kildal-Brandt of Mendham posted swift early season times. Stickle edged Kildal-Brandt at the line with a US#8 time of 1:24.19 for first, Kildal-Brandt right there in second with 1:24.25! The roles were a little different last year with Stickle running a 1:28 in 2013 at this meet and Kildal-Brandt winning with 1:23.67, but Stickle has made huge strides with evidence throughout last last spring and the off-season dropping almost 4 seconds from the same point in time last year. Hard work paying off. 

In the girls 600m Rhianna Follet of Morris Hills notched her second large meet win with a time of 1:42.59. 

Another note, the kick you have to see. In the boys 4x400 meter relay Ian McNally of Morris Hills made up a huge deficit and kicked hard on the final stretch for the win! Morris Hills won with a time of 3:42.32. Video is here!
