Corinne Myers of Westwood heard the start gun, took off around turn one and was in the clear charging ahead the rest of the way. With a split of 59 high through the first 400 meters she held a second to two seconds lead on the rest of the field. Down the back stretch Corinne looked as if she was going even faster and held off any kind of move that Jennifer Edobi and Catherine Pagano tried to make to catch up on her. We had three other girls in this heat go under 2:10 but you wouldn't know it watching this race.

She knew she wanted to go out hard, specifically a 60 or 61 and see what she could do from there. It paid off with the large gap between her and the rest of the pack proving to be too much to handle. This was a personal best by about a second and a half, she showed signs of things to come during groups when she hit what was then a two second personal best winning in a time of 2:07.17.
At first everyone was amazed at the time she had just posted, but then thinking about it we were all even more amazed at the fact that this was a race she ran pretty much on her own way out in front. Corinne also won the indoor Meet of Champions this year completing the championship sweep. Her indoor winning time was a 2:10.52.
Next fall she'll be continuing her education and racing at Northeastern University.
Here is a great interview with her conducted by Pat Montferrat after the glorious race.
