The Winslow girls clinched their second straight Group 3 State Championship on Saturday! With 80 points this is the girls third Group title with a Group 4 state title already in the trophy cased from 2004.
The team's two major all-star seniors Cidea'a Woods and Torie Robinson both earned 32 points for the cause. Cidea'a Woods ran for bronze in the 100m dash with a 12.31 in finals after posting a 12.25 in the prelims. For the 100m Hurdles she would run a wind aided 14.22 in prelims and then a true 14.22 for gold during finals, who needs wind! She hit a personal best in the the Triple Jump at a mark of 38-1 and leapt to 17-9.5 in the long jump, both for silver.
Torie Robinson's points were focused on the track, with first place finishes in both the 100m dash at 11.85 and 400m hurdles 61.38. The 100m dash gold was one of two personal bests for Torie, the other coming from her second place finish in the 200m with a time of 24.62. The last four points of her total 32 came during the 100m hurdles where she ran a 14.83 in finals after opening prelims with a 14.53.
There was another individual contributing to the points total, the junior jumper Gabrielle Bennett placed third in the high jump with a 5-2 clearance. She has a personal best of 5-5 which she set during Sectionals a week ago.
The team also picked up 10 points from relays with a fourth place finish in the 4x100m, 49.37, and third place in the 4x400m, 3:57.98.
