FORYS - MR & US #1 at MOC Takes 3200m Over Smith

In other action yesterday, Reggie Dixon of Plainfield repeated as the 55m champ with a photo finish victory over Chris Church of Millville (6.46 to 6.47).

The  55m Hurdles had an even closer finish, with the photo giving Tykeen Fulton of Trenton Central the edge over Lakewood’s Emanual Mayers. Both athletes were timed in 7.45.

The 1600m was won by Dennie Waite of Red Bank Regional with a time of 4:21.63 to kick past  Stephen Hankinson’ s (Summit) 4:21.96. Only .4 sec. separated Tony Salvatore, Mike Keebler and Andrew Brodeur in 3rd-5th places.

John Gray of Southern Regional (1:56.82) and Alan Laws Jr. of Pleasantville (1:57.18) came out of the unseeded section to take gold and silver in the 800m. A dawdling early pace kept Jason Apwah from winning the race that he was favored to take. Apwah won the seeded section in 1:57.74 to take 3rd overall.

The Cox brothers of Monmouth Regional went 1-2 in the 400m (48.92 & 49.15) with Alan Lukenheimer of Old Bridge 3rd in 49.26. Charles and Chris came back in the last running event of the program to drive Monmouth Regional to the 4x400m Relay title, besting Trenton Central 3:22.42 to 3:22.96

In the Field, Mike Alleman took the Shot Put with a throw of  59’ 3” to defeat Steve D’Arcy of Hanover Park (57’ 6 ¼”) and Vincent Elardo of Lacey Twp. (57’ 1 ½”).

Mike Goldwasser of  Manalapan won the Pole Vault with a lap of 13’ 6”.

In one of the more bizarre instances of the day Trenton Central’s Devon Bond, who had won the High Jump event at 6’ 8” was preparing to take his 2nd attempt at 7’1” when he was told that his spikes were too long. While scrambling for replacements, Devon missed the 5 minute window for his 2nd jump and at that point opted to end his day.
