10 Questions With...Kyle Soloff

1.) How did you get started as a distance runner?

I joined the cross-country team after my dad thought it would be a

good idea for me to get involved in a sport in high school. After

calling up Coach Sean Robinson, my dad told me that people interested

in joining the team were going to meet in front of the school. I went

to the meeting but it turned out that the team was actually meeting for

a run, and my dad knew that all along. I had no choice but to run with

them and that's how I got started.

2.) What was the Millrose experience like?

The Millrose experience was unreal. I was stretching in the athletes

only area, and all of a sudden three of the top milers in the world,

Webb, Lagat, and Mottram, were within twenty feet of me. That was

crazy, but the reality of it hit me when I walked out onto the track.

Madison Square Garden fit a lot of people around that small track.

3.) Do you have any Pre-race rituals/superstitions?                                                                                                                      I try to stay away from the superstitions. They can make you go

nuts. If you consider it a pre-race ritual, I pretty much stick to the

same stretching routine.

4.) Your all time favorite movie?

My favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan.

5.) Track or XC?

XC

6.) Balancing Running and Academics at Princeton?

I’ve been told that you have more time to do things at college than

you do in high school so hopefully the balance won’t be much different

from high school. I think I’ll be able to manage as long as I don’t get

caught up in that crazy party atmosphere at Princeton.

7.) What are your goals for Outdoors?

I want a MOC title and to break my school’s 2 mile record of 9:03.9.

8.) What is your favorite workout?

Repeat 400s

9.) What is your favorite Post-race food?

My favorite post race food would have to be either a cheese omelet

or a burrito.

10.) Kyle Soloff in 10 years?

Your guess is as good as mine. I’m not really sure about what I want to major in or do as a profession. I do want to travel a lot after college though.
