NJSIAA Will Use MileSplit's Online Registration for State Relays

Hello Coaches - The NJSIAA has agreed to give MileSplit's Online Registration a try for the State Relays as well as the State Sectionals and Non-Public Group Meets.

**Note - When you are editing your roster, if they are not there you do not have to add every single new athlete. Only the ones you are entering into the meet have to be made. The rest will be created automatically for you as I enter performances throughout the season.

At this point coaches should:

  • Create a MileSplit profile if they haven't already.
  • Claim their HS team while providing information to confirm they are a coach.
  • Once granted access, fix and report any errors or duplicates on their roster.
  • Once the roster is clean go to the meet pages and enter each event. (Relay meets are entered by individuals! Include your alternates! Also write the seeds with a dash such as 5-10 not 5.10. Thanks. )
  • Don't go by the invoice it is simply still $22 per relay! Send the payment over to the NJSIAA
  • ALL OF THE ABOVE TASKS ARE COVERED IN A TUTORIAL BELOW!

"Because this is the first attempt you will also continue the past registration process's paperwork. Send the Entry Form, Sportsmanship Statement, and Entry Fee according to the invoice from the online registration.

Schools, for now, should also continue to send HY-TEK roster to Lou Fraulo. This step in the future, if all goes well, will be eliminated.

Please alert your coaches. Entering online must be completed no later than January 14th at Noon."

Further Notes:

  • **Note - When you are editing your roster, if they are not there you do not have to add every single new athlete. Only the ones you are entering into the meet have to be made. The rest will be created automatically for you as I enter performances throughout the season.

This is meant to be an easier process not a hard one! haha If you are running into rough patches as we tune this first run just ask.
  • "The additional procedure of entering your teams on nj.milesplit.com, does not negate any of the seeding procedures we will be using as outlined on page 10 of the Winter Track tournament regulations. On the contrary, it will automate them.

You will not be allowed to enter seed times on milesplit. They will be placed there automaticallyfrom milesplits' database. What will happen meet day, is those teams with "verified" times (times in milesplits database) will have preprinted cards to submit to the clerks for seeding. Those without verified times, as in the past, will write the seed times on the cards - The top verified seed times as outlined on page 10 of the tournament regulations will be protected. The handwritten cards will be seeded below the top verified (pre-printed) cards.

To allow for smooth meet operation, you need to enter the individuals that would most likely be running that relay and up to 4 alternates. On meet day you would check off the 4 runners who are actually going to run.

For field events, the first two listed are the default performers, but you are allowed to list 2 additional alternates. On meet day, turn in two of the up to 4 cards you will get for that event.

Your entire roster will be available to you the day of the meet and you will be able to change entries - but any handwritten card automatically drops out of the "protected pool" for that event.

If this works as well as expected, many of the paper procedures will not be necessary.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

  • Note * You should only be making athletes "in-active" on your roster if they are no longer in the program. If you have an athlete who doesn't run XC but does compete in track (or vice versa) just take away the XC tag next to their name by checking the athlete, and then pressing the "remove from XC" button at the top.
