Great Award Given Out at Howell's Rebel Relays

Other than the general feel good nature of Track and Field, and the hard working, highly motivated people you meet and embrace in competition that the sport brings.  Many meets and awards are found throughout the seasons that are dedicated to charitable causes, memory of great people, and so on. Last weekend at the Howell Rebel Relays after the Distance Medley Relays had been timed and scored the Michael E. Curtin Distance Medley dedication reward was presented to the winning boys and girls teams.

If you don't know the story of Michael E. Curtin he was once a student at Howell HS and distance runner on the track team. After graduating high school in 2001 he joined the armed forces, and the Corporal at age 23 was one of the first soldiers from New Jersey killed in Iraq in 2003. In his memory this award is given out each year at the Rebel Relays.
