Recent Record Breakers - Issue #1

 

This is an article I want to post throughout the up coming season and on. Every time there is a record broken of any kind please send it into rkellert@milesplit.com to be placed in this article. NOTE that if your recent team or athlete record is not in this article you may politely contact me at the email mentioned above. I placed in what I knew of, and mostly from coaches and so on sending in emails. I'll update this article as more come in!

Triple Jump

STATE RECORD! - 41-00.25 -  - Keturah Orji takes the Triple Jump gold at New Balance Indoor Nationals as well as a state record with a mark of 41-00.25!!! Congratulations!

High Jump

School Record - 6-09 -  - Justin Love of Matawan FINALLY FINALLY broke 6-6 and he did it with a bang moving all the way up to 6-09! On his way to winning the boys high jump at the 79th Eastern States Championships on February 25th, 2013.

Long Jump

**School Record - 21-01 -  - Tony Cuccaro broke his school record in the long jump at the Poreda Invitational with a leap of 21-01.

Shot Put

**School Record - 52-09 -  - Dave McGriff set a school record in the shot put when he tossed a mark of 52-09 at Eastern State Champs

County Record - 44-03.5 -  - Carrie Wasdyke broke the Morris County record in the shot put with a huge toss of 44-03.5

**School Record - 26-03.25 -  - Christine Aurilia marked a school record at NJCTC Champs.

55m Dash

School Record - 6.62 -  - Saeed Blacknall -  1stPlace at the Central Jersey Group IV Championships. He was also the Shore Conference Champion in the Event. It established a new Manalapan High School record.

55m Hurdle

**School Record - 7.49 -  - Wilfred Asamoah of Edison HS broke his school record in the 55m hurdles at the 79th Eastern State Champs running a time of 7.49, breaking the old record of 7.58.

60m Hurdle

School Record - 8.35 -  - Austin Moore - He broke a school record at New Balance Nationals placing 24th in the Emerging Elite Boys 60m Dash with an 8.35.

200m Dash

**School Record - 25.71 -  - Jackie Wold broke the Freehold District Record in the 200 meter (formerly held by Ada Unuchukwu). She ran 25.71 at Easterns (twice) 3rd place.

300m Dash

**School Record - 36.8 -  - Chris Del Rossi broke his school record in the 300m with a time of 36.8 at the Valentine Invite, the old record was 37.15.

400m Dash

STATE RECORD! - 53.99 -  - Olivia Baker is a machine!! She ripped a 53.99 for a state record in the 400m at New Balance Indoor Nationals for second place... some how that was a second place time. Crazy, what an amazing season and performance by her and her team. She was also part of a State Record 4x400m not even an hour later!

**Meet Record - 49.91 -  - Chinedu Amonu broke the 400m meet record at the Group 1 and 2 Sectionals on February 6th, the former record was head by Darius Holmes of Willingboro at 50.61 set in 2012.

**Meet / School Record - 50.7 -  - Chris Del Rossi also broke his school record in the 400m with a time of 50.7 at the Skyland Conference Champs, the old record was 51.6. This was also the meet record.

School Record - 57.52 -  - Mary Grace Monahan - 3rdPlace and Eastern States Championships was a new Manalapan High School Record. Additionally it established a Freehold Regional High School District Record, taking down former Marlboro standout Ada Unachukwu’s old record of 57.69. It was the #1 time in the Shore Conference this past indoor season. She was also the Central Jersey Group IV Champion in the event.

School Record - 58.42 -  - Alexandra Cimino - She broke a school record in the 400m at New Balance Nationals finishing 7th in the Emerging Elite girls 400m with a time of 58.42

800m Run

Youth Indoor Meet Record - 1:59.18 -  - Dylan Capwell of Hopatcong HS set a Youth Indoor Meet Record as he became a Youth Indoor National Champion in the 800m running a 1:59.18.

School Record - 2:15.56 -  - Corinne Myers - She broke a school record in the 800m at New Balance Nationals running in heat 2 of 4 and placing 2nd overall in the Emerging Elite Girls 800m.

School Record - 2:15.73 -  - Mary Grace Monahan - 6thPlace at the NJ MOC was a new Manalapan High School Record. Additionally it established a Freehold Regional High School District Record, taking down former Freehold Township standout Kelly Pereira’s old record of 2:15.84. It was the #1 time in the Shore Conference this past indoor season. She was also the Central Jersey Group IV Champion in the event.

1500m Run

**County Record - 3:55.08 -  - Rob Napolitano of Red Bank Catholic broke the Monmouth County record in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.08, this was a split of his mile run. The previous record was held by Robby Andrew's at 3:58.

Mile Run

**School Record - 4:12.29 -  - Rob Napolitano of Red Bank Catholic broke his school record in the Mile placing 7th at Nationals. The 1500m time of 3:55.08 breaks Robby Andrew's Monmouth County Record  set at 3:58!

School Record - 4:58.31 -  - Marin Warner - She took down a school record at New Balance Nationals running a 4:58.31 to place 3rd in the Emerging Elite Girls Mile. 

2 Mile Run / 3200m Run

**School Record - 9:33.60 -  - Kevin Scott of Ocean City breaks his school's record in the 2mile, 3200m, and 3k, all in one swoop as he places 4th at New Balance Nationals in the 2mile.

**School Record - 10:27.87 -  - Sam Steiner broke his school record in the 3200m running a 10:27.87 at GR1 SJ Sectionals, the old record was 10:40.2.

**School Record - 10:49.73 -  - Kerry Dyke set a school record in the 3200m at NJSIAA Groups running a 10:49.73

Shuttle Hurdle Relay

NATIONAL RECORD!! - 29.20 -  - (Obafemi Animashaun, Christoffe Scott, Tyrell Gibbs, and Zach Ghizzone) - THE UNION CATHOLIC BOYS said to me early in the season that they had high expectations of themselves going into the championship season. They wanted to be the best in the shuttle hurdles. They proved it all season and finished the job at Nationals. They are the best of all time now thanks to the National Record they set winning the meet with a 29.20! Congrats to Obafemi Animashaun, Christoffe Scott, Tyrell Gibbs, and Zach Ghizzone!

School Record - 35.25 -  - (SR Bryanna Grant, SR Regine Hunter, JR Ashley McGuire and JR Kate Dezer) - The Cranford girls broke the school's Shuttle Hurdle record at New Balance Nationals.

4x200m Relay

**School Record - 1:48.64 -  - (Joanna Moore, Tara Malara, Niki Cleary, Nicole Di Blasio) The Hunterdon Central girls broke a school recrod all the way back at the Poreda Invitational when they ran a 1:48.64 in the 4x200m

4x400m Relay

STATE RECORD - 3:42.03 -  - (Kenya Gaston, Cheyenne Trigg, Shanika Dessein, Olivia Baker) - The Columbia HS girls had a consistent and fantastic season. They finish it off at New Balance Nationals with a bang breaking the NJ State Record for the girls 4x400m relay!!

School Record - 3:25.17 -  - (Chris Del Rossi, Michael Turck, Connor Barry and Brendan Jaeger) - Hunterdon Central's previous school record of 3.26.75 was broken at New Balance Nationals when they ran 3.25.17 and placed 9th in Emerging Elite race.

**School Record - 4:13.90 -  - (Sarah Regnault, Nicole Rojas, Amanda Sovany, and Kathy Gagliano) These girls broke the school indoor record running at Meet of Champions. 

4x800m Relay

**School Record - 9:16.86 -  - (Anthony Mercoli, Sam Steiner, Chris Mesiano, and Sam Mercoli) These boys broke their school record at the SJTCA meet on January 4th, the old record was 9:20.

**School Record - 10:13.04 -  - (Sarah Regnault, Nicole Rojas, Kelly O'Connor, and Kerry Dyke) These girls set a school indoor record running 10:13.04 at Group Relays.

Sprint Medley Relay

School Record - 3:29.01 -  - (Green 22.4, Reilly 23.3, Steele 50.0, Hatler 1:53.2) - The Pope John boys break a Sussex County record in the SMR at New Balance Nationals with a 2nd place finish.

School Record - 3:29.03 -  - (Pozo Zupko McDermott Mangini) Christian Brothers' relay DESTROYS their school record and takes 3rd place with a 3:29.03. Was also a Shore Conference record.

School Record - 3:33.77 -  - (Tony Cuccaro, Connor Barry, Chris Del Rossi and Brendan Jaeger) The Boys relay team broke the previous school record of 3:44.45 with a 3:33.77 breaking the record by over 10 seconds and coming in 12th. 

School Record - 4:09.04 -  - (Emma Pranschke (200), Alesia Passaro (200), Alexandra Cimino (400), Corinne Myers (800.)) - New Balance Nationals, the team took first in the Emerging Elite race with a 4:09.04.

Distance Medley Relay

**School Record - 10:19.73 -  - (Kyle Bogert, Tommy Spernal, Connor McNamara, Rob Napolitano) The Red Bank Catholic boys broke their school record in the DMR when they finished 5th at the 79th Annual Eastern States Champs.

County Record - 10:27.38 -  - (Dan Apicella 3:13.67, Randall Wall 51.92, Chris Butko 1:59.44 and Ryan McGann 4:22.35) At the 79th Eastern States Championships the St. Peter's Boys set the Hudson County record for the DMR. At least they were well under the mark of 10:33.4 ran in yards by Kearny HS all the way back in 1978.

**School Record - 12:04.62 -  - (Madison Holleran (1200), Anna Richard (400), Emma Sullivan (800), and Ariana North (1,600)) The Northern Highlands girls finish 6th at New Balance Nationals runnings a school record of 12:04.62 and a All-Time #3 Bergen County time!

4xMile Relay

School Record - 17:22.67 -  - (Bragg 4:21.1 Liberatore 4:23.2 Boyle 4:19 Rooney 4:19.37) The Brothers set a Shore Conference record in the 4xMile at New Balance Nationals as they became National Champions!

School Record - 18:08.35 -  - (Jack Baisley, Nick Demaio, Andrew Tsai, and Eric Williams) - The holmdel boys hit a school record at New Balance Nationals placing 25th with a time of 18:08.35.

School Record - 18.16.49 -  - (Ryan Magnus, Kyle Everham, Jay Wunnava, Noah Culbreath) - They ran an 18:16.49 for 29th at New Balance Nationals to break their school record.

5K

School Record - 16:57.99 -  - Mackenzie Barry - She placed 6th at New Balance Nationals with this time.

**School Record - 17:45.26 -  - Kerry Dyke set a school record in the 5K at New Balance Nationals running a 17:45.26

Pole Vault Relay

**School Record - 20-00 -  - Jaeson Porch and Scott Roseboro set their school record in the Pole Vault relay at the Group 1 State Relay Championships.
