STCA Season Opener #1 & #2

The Shore Track Coaches Association held a two meet Season Opener series at the Toms River Bubble this week. Results to both these meets are listed above and a combined leaderboard for the series is listed below, the second meet owning all but three events.

The throwing pits were highlight producers at the second meet. For the girls Alyssa Wilson of Donovan Catholic threw for 55-4.5, this broke both the meet and facility record. She already set a state record and US#1 last week with a 55-9.5 throw at Bishop Loughlin.  Behind her with a NJ#2 US#4 throw was Danielle Notarfrancesco of Jackson Liberty at 43-4.  Then during the boys shot put Andrew Huisman of St. Rose tossed a 55-4.25 for NJ#3 this season.

On the track for the boys... Noah Yuro of Christian Brothers Academy had a solid opener running 4:26.98 in the 1600 meter, that leads the state in the event and when counting converted mile times he is NJ#2. CBA also led the series in the 4x200 meter with a 1:35.20, the 4x800 meter with an 8:27.47 and had the fastest 400 meter runner between the meets thanks to Tim Jacoutot's time of 51.74, he also placed second in the 55 hurdles with a 7.91.

During the straight away sprints Bryce Watts of Toms River North won the 55 dash with a 6.64 NJ#4, he was sixth at the Meet of Champions last year. When adding hurdles to the mix Brick Memorial's Kishaun Carter ran the fastest time of the series with his prelim performance of 7.69 for NJ#5, he placed third in the finals while Dave Alston of Matawan took the win running 7.80.

In the pole vault we saw two boys clear 13-0 now ranked NJ#4, Douglas Young of Rumson-Fair Haven finished first and John Healy of CBA second at meet #2. In the high jump Colts Neck's Ryan Tompkins cleared 6-2.

We didn't see as many top ranking performances on the girls side but there were some solid stand outs none the less. Grace Hofferber of Rumson-Fair Haven led the 400 meter dash with a 1:01.06 to win the second meet. She was also part of the series leading 4x200 meter Rumson-Fair Haven team that ran 1:50.36.

In the 4x800 meter Freehold Twp continued to fine tune their girls 4x800 meter team and led the series with a 10:18.08. They already improved on that time two days later with a 10:10.13 at the Merli Invitational.

And lastly in the pole vault Kaleigh Remick of St. John Vianney broke into the top ten of the state with her 10-3 vault. That was a major personal record for her, she had not cleared 10-0 prior to then.
