Union Catholic High School's Sydney McLaughlin earned an experience this summer that athletes at her age don't normally come across, when she qualified for the Olympic team in the 400 meter hurdles and competed in Rio. Now summer competitions are over, she is back home, going to school, and hopefully finding time to relax after a very long track season. After watching and cheering her on all summer her high school and home town have found ways to acknowledge her accomplishments.

Her high school held a Sydney McLaughlin Recognition Event last week and unveiled a banner that will hang in the school's gym in her honor, as seen below. Another public honor her New Jersey hometown of Dunellen, added her name and Olympic status to their welcome sign, as seen in this USA Today article, "Hometown of Olympian - Sydney McLaughlin".
All well deserved by the young New Jersey track star.
