Monmouth's Joe Compagni Named USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Women's Coach of the Year

MONMOUTH'S JOE COMPAGNI NAMED USTFCCCA MID-ATLANTIC WOMEN'S COACH OF THE YEAR

Compagni captures sixth regional honor 

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Monmouth University women's indoor track coach Joe Compagni was named the 2016 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Mid-Atlantic Women's Coach of the Year, the organization announced Friday afternoon.  Compagni, who was tabbed as the Men's and Women's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year this season, earns his sixth regional distinction during his 21 years at the helm.

"I'm very fortunate to have great support from Dr. Marilyn McNeil and the entire athletic department," commented Compagni.  "We have an extremely dedicated staff of coaches and a team that was committed to coming together to excel as the season went on. This is a great honor for Monmouth University."

Compagni, who was named to The Garden State Runs organization list of the 25 Most Influential People in New Jersey Running, and his staff have been lauded 44 times with coach of the year accolades, earning the distinction 27 times while in the Northeast Conference and 10 times as members of the MAAC, in addition to seven regional honors.

Compagni's track programs swept the MAAC Indoor Championships for the third straight season two weeks ago.  During his tenure, Compagni's six programs (cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field) have accumulated 46 titles while with the NEC, the MAAC and IC4A.

Compagni will lead the Blue and White into competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships this weekend in Boston, MA.
