Edwin Rutto and Eve Glasergreen rocked the Bernie Magee Class Meet! / Original Photos by Aaron Laserna for MileSplit
On a Saturday full of class meets around New Jersey we saw glimpses of each grade's talent pool and what we can look forward to talent wise for years to come. Out of those many performances there were a few stand out runs that made sure to catch our eye.
One of the class meets that took place was the Bernie Magee Class Meet at the beautiful Greystone Park in Morris Plains, NJ. You can find full results here as well as photos.
For the girls we saw Eve Glasergreen of North Hunterdon absolutely leave every girls performance in the dust. She ran the fastest time of the day at 17:52 to win the senior girls race. The next fastest time? 18:59 by fellow senior Rachel Lehnert of Rumson Fair Haven (which is a great time as well and ranks 34th all time for the course)!
Not often you see an athlete lead a field of 485 runners by over a minute. If we take a look at the all-time Greystone Park list, put together by Len Pietrewicz over at Morris County Track, Eve's time ranks second. This is a course that handles county championships and state sectional running.

The time she sits behind on the all-time list was run by Sarah Disanza of High Point who ran a 17:48 in 2012 to win the NJAC Championships. Eve just settled in before last year's 17:54.53 mark by Mackenzie Barry of Mendham who ran that time was willing the NJAC Championships as a senior as well.
Eve looks to be in great shape as we head further into the season and the next time we'll see her will be at the Shore Coaches and Manhattan Invites.
On the boys side Edwin Rutto has been making waves lately running increasingly fast times. Edwin won the juniors race with a time of 15:31.8 on Saturday and now ranks third all time on the Greystone Park list! Last week Rutto posted an impressive win at the Newark Academy Invitational running a 15:35.

When looking at the merged results you'll notice another impressive time on the boys side posted by Matt Russo of Westfield, the senior took the boys race in 15:57 which is good enough for tenth all-time on the course. He's feeling really good with the start the season and this was a great first race at Greystone for him. We'll see him next week at Bowdoin.

On the team side of things we'll quickly look at the Merged Results where the Hunterdon Central boys displayed a lot of depth leading the boys teams with a top five average of 16:53 and only a 52 second split! They were led by Robert Vanacore who ran the 9th fastest time of the meet at 16:37, Matt Saponara 10th best at 16:40, Andrew Dyer 12th at 16:45, Austin Sterling 23rd with 16:55, and Ryan Eville a sophomore 57th overall with 17:28.
On the girls side Ridge did some major running led by senior Liz Newman who took 5th in the senior class as well as overall at the meet with a time of 19:22. From there on the Ridge girls would average 19:54 in the merge with a split of 1 minute and 3 seconds! Abigail Regner 9th overall at 19:45, Sophie Spring 14th 19:59, Regan Asay 15th 20:03, and Catherine Guiseffi 23rd 20:25.
