Fitzroy Ledgister of St. Peter's Prep threw down one of the most eye-popping performances in state history in the 100-meter dash at Friday's Non-Public A Championships at Middletown North High School.

The Rutgers-bound Ledgister (he plans to play football and run track for the Scarlet Knights) left a lot of smoke on the track when he burned a NJ No. 3 all-time and wind legal 10.39 to break the All Groups meet record (All Groups combined), and the Hudson County record!

Ledgister's 10.39 broke the All Groups meet record of 10.4 (hand time) shared by several athletes, and took down the Hudson County record of 10.54 set in 2010 by Zamir Thomas Snyder,. It's also the fastest time run by a NJ sprinter since current Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Damiere Byrd of Timber Creek ran 10.36 to win the South Jersey, Group 3 title in 2011.

Ledgister, the Meet of Champions winner in the 55m dash this past indoor season, is now tied for No. 3 on the state's all-time list with Miles Shuler of Long Branch, who ran 10.39 to win the Meet of Champions title in 2010.

The only two runners in state history to run faster in the 100 than Ledgister are Jamar Ervin of Camden, who ran 10.35 to win the 100 at the Meet of Champions as a freshman in 2000, and the aforementioned Byrd.

Ledgister, who will run the 200 on Saturday, will get one more shot at Ervin's state record in the 100 when he runs that race at the New Balance Nationals next weekend.
