The great track and field legacy of the Booker family reached another huge milestone at Saturday's 49th NJSIAA Meet of Champions at Northern Burlington High School in Columbus.

When Martin Booker Jr. crossed first to win the 200-meter dash in 21.57, he joined his father, Martin Sr., as the first father-son combination to ever win outdoor M of C titles. Martin Booker Sr. won the 400 intermediate hurdle title for Camden at the 1981 M of C.

There's more.

Dominique Booker, the older sister of Martin Jr., won an indoor Meet of Champions title in the 55 dash for Montclair Immaculate in 2009.

"It really means a lot to me to join my dad as a Meet of Champions winner outdoors,'' said Martin Jr., who also win the 200 at the indoor M of C. "My dad had my sister and I running ever since we were like four years old, so for me to continue our family legacy with a win here means the world to me. It was a huge goal of mine all season and to make it happen is the best feeling I've ever had.''
