The University of Kansas is hosting this college meet, though there are some incredibly high school races built in here and if we want to focus on one, you have to look at the girls 1600m run, where Davenport Assumption (IA) senior and Arkansas signee Joy Ripslinger, with a PR of 4:52.35 in the full mile, goes up against Lawrence Free (KS) High's Emily Venters, who owns a PR of 4:56.58. Venters is a Boise State signee.
It should be close, because both Ripslinger and Venters were in that same race a year ago at the Nike Festival of Miles, with Ripslinger finishing in ninth and Venters coming in 11th. Ripslinger has 2:07 800m speed, while Venters is more of a 3200m runner and has a PR of 10:26.20.
Shawnee Mission Northwest (KS) High's Molly Born, who owns a 1600m PR of 4:49.64 from last year, is also in the race.
Expect a duel.
