PREVIEW: Ed Poreda Invitational

BOYS: Some teams appear to be stacking the relays at Lawrenceville. Coatesville and Upper Dublin will square off with some solid NJ teams--Hunterdon Central and Lawrenceville--in the 4x200. Meanwhile, Germantown Friends may go after an SMR, 4x800, and/or DMR. Neither Nick Dahl nor Grayson Hepp are entered individually so there's a strong chance they look to run a fast relay. PA#5 Central Bucks West may also go hard in the 4x800. Neshaminy, coming off a strong PA#7 DMR a few weeks ago may be looking for more at Lawrenceville.

PA#5 in the 60 meters, Terrence Laird of Coatesville leads the PA entries in the 55 meter dash. PA#2 in the 60 meter hurdles, Monte Guess of Archbishop Ryan will look go fast in the 55 meter hurdles against some good competition from the host state.

The mile field shaped up nicely. We'll get to see the 2016 open debut from two-time AAA XC champ Jake Brophy of Central Bucks East. He should get a good race from NJ #4 in the mile, Ian Moini of The Pennington School, as well as the CB West duo of Rock Fortna and Brian Iatarola.

In the high jump, reigning Boys Performer of the Week, Eric Wacker of Pennsbury will look to take down a strong NJ contingent in the event. Dondre Pittman of Coatesville is also in the field. PA#5 Caleb Appiah-Owusu returns to Lawrenceville as the top PA entry in the long jump. Appiah-Owusu is also entered in the triple jump with PA#2 Alex Parasky of CB East leading the group.

GIRLS: The relays at Poreda have the chance to be interesting. In the 4x200, CB East will look to improve on their breakthrough performance at the Hispanic Games. Pennsbury could challenge them there. In the sprint medley, it looks like Germantown Friends will chase a good time. They'll have plenty of competition for some Jersey teams. Could we see Sarah Walker in anchoring? Speaking of NJ competition, Pennsbury looks like they may try and go for a fast 4x800 (they certainly have the talent), and it appears some NJ teams will be stacking that race. Of course, Pennsbury could also go for a DMR as well, so stay tuned.

Pennsbury's Dasia Pressley ran a fast 60 meters a few weeks ago at a DVGTCA meet and now she will look for a fast time in the 55 meters, where she'll come in favored. Pressley is also entered in the long jump, an event we don't have any performances for, so that is something to watch for. Also look out for Coatesville freshman Porsha Miles, who is also in the 55 field.

Olivia Sargent of Pennsbury leads the mile field. The PIAA AAA XC champ has been relatively quiet so far this winter, only racing once at the Hispanic Games, so we'll see if this will be Sargent's breakout race of the indoor season.
