Manalapan Boys Head Coach Jim Tweed Resigns

After being involved with the team in either the winter season, spring season, or both since 2004 Head Coach Jim Tweed has decided to step down due to family and recovery reasons.

Tweed's father who lives in Florida is very ill, the situation requires the ability to leave for the Sunshine state at a moment's notice. Tweed also recently had some major knee surgery, between the time needed for recovery and the possibility of having to leave for Florida the 10 year head coach decided that he was not able to devote the time he is accustomed to.

"We have accomplished a number of great things during my tenure here and it is a testament to the efforts and support of the athletes, coaching staff, and administration." Tweed stated as he delivered the news.

Some of those accomplishments include but are not limited to:

1 Millrose Games Champion
2 National Champions
2 National Records
4 State Champions
2 Shore Conference Divisional Championships
18 County Championships
8 Shore Conference Championships

At this point in time it is not known who will replace Coach Tweed as the Manalapan program's head coach, however Tweed stated that he feels this year's team should do great things during outdoor season.

Tweed ended stating that he would like to return to coaching eventually, "There is a possibility that I may serve as an assistant coach somewhere, but right now the focus needs to be on recovering from my surgery and my family."
