The Run Down - NJRunner's Recap Article of T&F Action

Rolling off some awesome notes from the last few days.

This past Friday Matt Nelson won his THIRD STRAIGHT 3200m at Shore Conference Championships clocking a 9:26.36 NJ#4 in a strategic race. The amount of determination, training, and consistency to pull that off are rare to come by in one athlete. Congrats Matt.

Courtney Thompson of SJV break's Danielle Leavitt's 3200m record from last season at the Conference Champs meet running a 10:50.31, that is a US#11 and a NJ#1. She's coming off a fantastic XC season along with her teammate Tara Connelly who won the 1600m in 5:07.5 at this same meet. Congratulations on the record books Courtney!

Nick Eckett was causing a stir at the Pole Vault pit and had people go crazy on the vault pictured above as he cleared 15-01 breaking the meet record and taking the top spot in NJ Pole Vault. Awesome work Nick that was a sight to see!

CBA wins their 3rd straight, while Southern pushes their streak to 5 at Shore Conference Champs. Old Bridge boys AND girls sweep the Greater Middlesex Conference Champs thanks to fantastic efforts from their top stars. Hunterdon Central boys win the Skyland Conference Champs with a quality 73 points and Franklin girls take the girls with an 11 point lead of 62 points.

Let us just say BRAHEME DAYS JR!! What a toss of 69-0! A US#1, Breaking his previous #1 throw of 67-4.25 at the SJTCA Meet back on January 3rd.

At the Greater Middlesex Champs Rachel Belmont of Old Bridge ran a 5:14.03 in the 1600m for a meet record, on the Old Bridge boys side their 4x400m set a meet record in a time of 3:27.75. More highlights from this meet listed below. Congrats again on the SWEEP Old Bridge!

Giving Chase To History

As the New Balance Games' fields are announced, it is hard not to focus on Mary Cain's chase of a 40-year-old national high school record in the mile. At Saturday's Games she will certainly have a field that can help her get there. (via Armory Track)
