Princeton High School Track Athletes to host 5k Race kick-off at Princeton Running Company
Tuesday January 31st at 6:00 pm.
Athletes from the Princeton HS Track and Field Program are hosting a kick-off at Princeton Running Company on Tuesday January 31st at 6:00 pm for their race The Princeton 5K. Athletes, coaches, and parents will lead a run to preview the course for the community at 6:15pm, be available with maps and applications for registration, and will answer any questions about the program or race that people may have. Drinks and snacks will be available after, courtesy of Running Company.
The Princeton 5k is set to be held on Sunday March 18th at 9am. The fast course will run around the neighborhoods of the High School and finish on the actual finish line of the track. There is plenty of parking and room for meeting afterwards. It is a great community/family event for all levels of runners. The cost for the event is $20.00 at Running Company. ALL proceeds go to benefit the athletes!
The race, which is in its second year, is the primary fundraiser for the Princeton HS Track and Field Booster Club whose fund supports over 300 athletes covering the seasons of XC, Indoor, and Outdoor Track. This race, in which the athletes play a big role in the organizational process, is truly a grassroots effort to support an underfunded program. Funds help pay for needed equipment for the team, help athletes in need, and cover expenses incurred in traveling to invitational events.
The goal of the PHS Track and Field Program is to "develop athletes in a progressive manner moving them from non-scoring to state level competitiveness" and to "help athletes reach their individual potential".
