That didn't take long!!
Blair Bartlett of Lawrenceville, just four days after Allison Lee broke the NJ outdoor record in the 3,200-meter run, took down Lee's state record by unleashing a red-hot 9:45.29 in the 3,200 on Friday at the NJISAA Prep A Track Championships at the Peddie School in Hightstown.
That broke the mark of 9:46.78 that Lee ran at the Holmdel Night of 3200's this past Monday. Before Lee's record-breaking run, the NJ record belonged to Angelina Perez of Lakeland, who ran 9:53.29 at the 2022 NJSIAA Group 2 Championships at Franklin High.
Bartlet's 9:45.29 is No. 7 in U.S. high school outdoor history and the second-fastest time ever run by a junior in U.S. history.
Here are Bartlett's splits - 400 (1:11.33), 800 (2:22.34), 1200 (3:33.61), 1600 (4:46.55), 2000 (6:01.41), 2400 (7:17.18), 2800 (8:33.72), and she closed with a 1:11.57 over the final 400.
Exactly a week prior to her latest record-smashing performance, Bartlett threw down an NJ, meet record, and U.S. No. 4 all-time 9:04.92 to repeat as the 3,000m champion at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
Bartlett's latest masterpiece gives the junior an astonishing 8 NJ records (6 indoors and 2 outdoors) in her remarkable resume!!! And all 8 have all come in the last 3 months!
